TV

As I sit here watching AFL 360 I was trying to work out which AFL show is my favourite. No doubt that 360 is one of my favourites but I'll have to stick with 'On the Couch'. It's a great show and Paul Roos adds so much knowledge to the show. Surprisingly the Offsiders, channel two on Sunday morning ranks up there as well. The show isn't specifically an AFL show, as it talks about all sports.

Cartoons have been such a big part of my TV life. I would love to know how many times I have seen my favourite eps like Homer goes to college. I honestly think that it would be 30-50 times. Although The Simpsons has been a long time great, it isn't my favourite cartoon. Futurama happily sits on top of the list. I love the show and can't get enough of it. Although I haven't sat down to watch the eps in a long time, I look forward to doing it soon. I just don't have the time to watch much DVD's anymore. The first four series of Futurama was amazing, the four movies (which ended up being series five) were ok too but series six was getting back to its best. American Dad is also a great one, much better than Family Guy. South Park has some classic episodes as well. I love the ep where Butters gets a Ninja star stuck in his eye.

Candice has come in now. Apparently I've never told her that I have a blog. The truth is I've told her twice but if she is doing something else when I'm talking to her, things don't stick in her memory.

Anyway, back to the TV. I love shows like Weeds, Dexter, House, Lost etc. Weeds is great as you get stuck in with the characters so quickly. Doug is so damn funny. I watch a lot of Sitcoms as well. My all time favourite (and favourite show ever) is the Drew Carey Show. I still don't understand why it wasn't more popular. You can't even get the whole series on DVD. I can't wait until they bring it out. My name is earl, viva la bam, scrubs, arrested development, how I met your mother, mighty boosh etc are all great sitcoms. I never thought it would watch Big Bang, but I get a lot of laughs out of that as well, Modern Family too.

Breakout Kings is a new show that I have got into, How to make it in America is another good new show. Something a bit left of centre is 'It's always sunny in Philly'. It's a great comedy but it's very different to a lot of other sitcoms.

Seinfeld is a golden oldie. This was a show that took me a lot time to get into. As a kid I was never a fan of it. I put it in the same light as Becker, Just Shoot Me and Fraser. Ohhhh Fraser was so bad. Seinfeld would be the best show at having continuous jokes. It was also great at somehow make their a and b plots come together at the end of an episode.

X-Files was another show I used to watch a lot of. There was a lot of eps that spooked me. Survivors, The Colony etc are a new breed of this type of show that I also have fallen in love with. No one else ever remembers 'it's a knock out' but I used to love that show. It was an Aussie version of Techeshi's Castle but it was spilt into state vs state. Victoria always sucked at it.

There would be so many more shows but I can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

Candice hurry up with the dinner, it's 8.19pm and I'm still waiting!

Favourite Pizza Toppings

I woke up this morning quite hungry. I've got some leftover pizzas in the fridge from last night. It's one of my favourite breakfast foods to eat.

Pizza is great. I love it so much even after all these years. I have got over my favourite for a long while but like all good things, it returned bigger and better than ever.

1) Hawaiian - Damn it's a great pizza. So simple but so good. The mix of ham and pineapple makes such a good taste. I still eat one of these a week.
2) Margherita - The cheese master. I remember this coming onto the scene when I was 12-15 years old. I instantly became my favourite. I don't eat it much now thought but I know one day it will have a great second wind.
3) Aussie - One I have never eaten that much but it's currently one of my favourites. Egg on a pizza somehow works
4) BBQ Chicken - Putting BBQ sauce on any pizza makes it better. Chicken is always a great change to the regular ham
5) Meat lovers - This was another one that had its time as my favourite pizza. BBQ meat lovers is better though
6) Supreme - A good change up pizza. Capsicum on a pizza works. It really should be put on more of them
7) Vegetarian - When my parents went away for a month I, for some reason got into veggie. I still remember playing a lot of Wii and eating veggie pizzas. Good times
8) Kebab - Furlong road kebab pizza is great as a recovery food but there is so much oil coming from it. I wouldn't be surprised if one day I actually see a kebab pizza fall through the box.
9) Garlic Pizza - The pizza you eat before you eat pizza. Yum
10) Mexican - The trouble with Mexican is that it's always different from different shops. I expect this one to clime the ranks though. Much like Zaka

Now for the golden rules of pizza
1 - Woodfire pizza always beats oven cooked
2 - Its ok to put hot chips on pizza (try it)
3 - A pizza drive thru service would be massive. Imagine a $5.95 two slice, small piece of garlic bread and drink combo for lunch. YUM
4 - Pizza always beats any other fast food
5 - When in doubt, stick to a trusted flavour.

I'm going to have two slices of Hawaiian now.

My (lack of) understanding of the theory of relativity

I will start this off with an obvious disclaimer. I know next to nothing about the subject. I watched a doco on TV recently which is the main inspiration for this topic. That and the fact that I have nothing better to do at this moment. (Sunday afternoon).
The theory was created by Einstein a long long time ago. I think the theory means that time is not a constant. Everything, space, time and other crap is all dependent on gravity. Black holes have so much power that they can actually pull at the fabric of time. There was also some studies by Stephen Hawking about what gets sucked into a black hole that was very interesting. He proved (don’t ask me how as there was no proof that black holes even existed when he did the research) that on the cusp of a black hole only positive neutrons get pulled into the black hole leaving all the negative ones around the rim which emits radiation. Anyway black holes are so damn strong that they can do this.
I’ve just read through the first two paragraphs and realised that I haven’t really explained anything yet. I think I have proved to myself that I know nothing on the topic. I can only spit out random facts. I don’t have the ability to actually co ordinaite them into any structure which makes reading easy. Oh well, I think this has something to do with the fact that I actually haven’t tried to write something longer then two sentences since Uni. Anyway I’ll give it another shot.
Maybe a visual would help. Imagine a sheet of thin cloth. Now imagine this being our universe. When you place an item on it like a planet, the weight of the planet will cause the fabric to dip. The bigger the planet, the deeper the dip is and the more gravitational pull it will have.
The theory proved that clocks run slower under low gravity situations. Also something that is extremely interesting is the work that is currently being done at the Hadron Collider in Switzerland. They shot particles in different directions and make them hit eachother at close to the speed of light. They are doing research on the big bang, trying to create the same situation that was happening then. Since the particles are moving that close to the speed of light they actually become little time travellers. How cool is that.
Another pointless little fact that has nothing to do with this. The human eye works by taking around thirty sit shots per second. In times of life threatening moments the brain will re-direct energy from other non essential activities at that time and re-direct them to where it’s needed, eg legs if you need to run away. The frame rate then doubles which has the effect that time is actually slowing. Anyway I’m out of pointless info to this one. This blog was so horrible it may be my last.

Bulldogs year shot

As I left Etihad Stadium last night I had a sence that not only was the 2011 year over for the Western Bulldogs, there may be some very bleak years ahead. There are a lot of reasons for this but one of them isn't Rocket Eade. I believe that he has gotten the best out of the playing group in his time at the doggies and the team, board and supporters shouldn't jump off him so quickly. The doggies were 13th in footy department spend last year and managed to get to a preliminary final.

I feel that the club (with a 3-8 record) will start thinking ahead to 2012 and that will end up costing them games in 2011. It's what every club does, it's the smart thing to do so you can't blame them for doing it. The footy world will be looking at someone to blame, again I think this will be unfairly put straight at Eade. I wonder sometimes why can't we congratulate a team (who ever never that good) in making so many prelims in a row.

The reason I feel why the Bulldogs are going down this year is a number of small things going wrong. I think that the way Aker left the side is still having an effect at the club. I think that it was the correct decision to bring him in but a number of other recent additions to the side haven't been. I believe that Lake's lack of form has really hurt the side. I feel that the growing divide amongst the players is evidient. I believe that some of their players have lost their ruthlessness and it's costing the team.

Cooney aparently has a knee so bad that it's gone down to bone on bone. The team misses his pace. Cross has been down in recent weeks, Gia has always been a problem, Josh Hill at times doesn't look interested but he does have the talent, Jones is a waste of time and Tom Williams lacks confidence.

I think another issue is the constant obsession with picking up recycled players. Ed Barlow, Welsh, Djerrkura, Hall, Hudson, Sherman, Veszpremi, Callen, Eagleton and McDougell have all be recycled players picked up in the last 3-4 years. The Lions get slammed for recuriting but the Bulldogs need to be looked in the same light. They are extremely lucky that they have picked up Libba and Wallis this year. This will go a great way into hiding these mistakes.

The bulldogs should start to think about next year, but they shouldn't go to overboard with bringing in kids/delisting players/sacking the coach. They still have a good core group of players around the middle to build a team around. Lake, Markovic, Morris, Hargrave, Wood, Gilbee etc show that they still have class in the backline. They still have all the talent needed in the middle. The forward line is and has always been a question mark. What has got them so down lately is their confience and lack of pressure efforts all around the ground. The players need work on that and improve.

I do worry though that it may get worst before it gets better.
